Our client is looking to recruit a Senior Court Litigation Associate to join their team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Represent the organisation in court sittings when required;
- Draft, prepare, file, and review judicial acts and related documentation as necessary for court proceedings;
- Conduct legal research and provide legal advice as needed;
- Liaise and coordinate with external legal representatives regarding court-related matters;
- Ensure court deadlines are met and decisions are communicated in a timely manner;
- Prepare for court sittings, including the coordination and preparation of witnesses;
- Ensure timely updates of legal publications or notices on the organisation’s platforms;
- Coordinate external legal fees when necessary;
- Maintain trackers, logs, and related records accurately;
- Support the Manager in monitoring, reviewing, and evaluating the work of team members, identifying areas for improvement;
- Evaluate team operations and provide reports as required;
- Assist in the implementation and application of enforcement processes;
- Participate in interviews and support recruitment activities when needed;
- Keep the Manager, Senior Manager, Head of Section, and other superiors updated on team plans, actions, and progress;
- Draft and review policies and procedures within the Court Litigation Team and ensure their effective implementation;
- Assist management in planning team operations and setting goals aligned with the Section’s priorities, targets, and deliverables;
- Provide training both internally and externally;
- Liaise with other units and entities to collect data, documentation, and information required for court proceedings;
- Testify in court proceedings and present documents under oath when required;
- Support the Head, Senior Manager, and Managers with ad-hoc projects and assignments throughout the year;
- Collaborate with local and international supervisory authorities on enforcement measures;
- Represent the organisation in international fora when required;
- Report to the Manager, Senior Manager, Head, Deputy Director, and Director;
- Perform any other duties delegated by senior management.
Qualifications & Experience:
- LL.D., M.Adv, or equivalent academic qualification in Law at MQF Level 7 or higher;
- Warrant to practice as an advocate in the Law Courts of Malta;
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience practicing in court or in a relevant legal/compliance role, including experience in AML/CFT;
- Strong understanding of legislation governing the prevention of money laundering and financing of terrorism in Malta, as well as related international standards and EU legislation;
- In-depth knowledge of EU Directives and corresponding local legislation regulating financial services, gaming, and other supervised sectors;
- Familiarity with the practical operations of these regulated industries;
- Hands-on experience in applying AML/CFT legislation will be considered an asset;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Maltese and English;
- Previous managerial experience will be considered advantageous;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other office productivity tools
