A very well known established company is seeking to recruit a Retail Officer/Area Manager to represent major and leading brands locally and oversees with diversified business in both wholesale and retail sectors. With an established and ever-increasing customer base, it is committed to quality service, the development of new retail concepts and manages a wide portfolio of fast-moving consumer lines and services, many of which are market leaders.
As an Area Manager you will oversee a cluster of retail stores ensuring their smooth and efficient operation. The Area Manager will get hands-on training at all job grades in retail, thus providing them with a strong and sound knowledge of business requirements as well as awareness of the problems faced by the employees.
The Area Manager must be a team leader who is present and visible on the shop floor as well as ready to roll up the sleeves. Shop Managers and Duty Managers rely upon the Area Manager for guidance, strategy, and leadership.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To visit shops regularly and set focus points with the Shop Managers, Duty Managers and Sales Supervisors;
- To support Managers to train and develop their teams;
- To collaborate with and mentor Managers on the performance of their respective outlet;
- Help your Managers problem-solve and address any issues they bring to your attention;
- Visit head office for regular meetings to ensure you are aligned with your colleagues;
- Lead and motivate your team to their full potential every day in compliance with company policies and procedures;
- Create a working environment where colleagues can produce their best work;
- Maximisation of turnover by defining, with the support of the Shop Managers and Sales Supervisors, the best commercial strategies aligned with company directives. From product exposure to sales strategies, every detail will be aimed at a successful result;
- Analysis and monitoring of KPIs to define challenging goals and ensure their achievement;
- To step in and replace Shop Managers and Sales Supervisors if/when the need arises
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent communication and people skills;
- Fluent in both Maltese and English;
- Willingness to be continuously on the go, working alongside your team;
- Must have and ready to use own transport;
- Flexible and willing to work odd hours;
- Able to work under pressure and handle challenging situations;
- Skilled on the job trainer;
- Efficient management skills to improve productivity;
- A strong commitment to customer service;
- Experience of leading, motivating and developing a team in a fast-paced, target-driven environment;
- Excellent time-management, skilled in decision-making, delegation and problem-solving;
- Basic understanding of retail laws, security and health and safety procedures.
