Our esteemed client is looking to recruit a Quality Control Manager within their Supervisory team.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Supervision and Senior Managers in shaping the strategic direction of the Supervision Section to ensure effective implementation of supervisory functions;
  • Develop and execute an annual plan for conducting quality checks on supervisory activities performed by the Supervision Section and its agents. This includes quality assessments of AML/CFT compliance examinations and the corresponding reports issued to subject persons, as well as the implementation of corrective measures to address any deficiencies identified during these quality checks;
  • Oversee the Quality Control team’s operations to ensure compliance with the quality control plan, providing guidance and direction as needed;
  • Ensure that the Supervision Section's internal policies, established practices, and standards are thoroughly documented, effectively communicated, and updated as necessary. This includes the development and revision of policy documents, procedures, and working papers;
  • Deliver internal training sessions on supervision-related policies and procedures;
  • Collaborate with Managers within the Supervision Section to ensure accurate recording of supervisory work details for statistical and information-sharing purposes;
  • Liaise, coordinate, and cooperate with various Competent Authorities such as the Malta Financial Services Authority, Malta Gaming Authority, Sanctions Monitoring Board, the National Coordinating Committee for the Prevention of Money Laundering and Funding of Terrorism, Malta Police, and others as required;
  • Ensure consistent and effective coordination with other local and international supervisory authorities, including the planning and management of colleges, and maintaining communication with the European Central Bank and the European Banking Authority via respective portals;
  • Assist in the preparation of questionnaires and other tasks related to evaluations and assessments conducted by local and international bodies, such as the EU, Egmont, MONEYVAL, FATF, among others;
  • Participate in committees and contribute to discussions on compliance examination outcomes;
  • Represent the company at international meetings, forums, and workshops;
  • Provide support at ad hoc projects, including the strategy project

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Candidates must hold a University Degree (NQF Level 6) in law, banking and finance, financial services, insurance, accounting, auditing, statistics, or economics. Additionally, applicants should have at least six years of relevant experience, with a minimum of two years in a senior-level position;
  • Applicants must be well-versed in the laws governing the prevention of money laundering and the financing of terrorism in Malta, along with relevant international standards and EU legislation;
  • Familiarity with the sectors in which subject persons operate, such as financial services, gaming, and other regulated industries, is essential;
  • Candidates should demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and office automation tools;
  • A proven track record of technical competence, efficiency, leadership, ethical responsibility, and diligence is required;
  • Experience in auditing is considered an asset
