The Project Engineer is responsible for managing new customer projects from initial quotation (RFQ) through to Start of Production (SOP). The role involves coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery while maintaining high standards of quality and service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage requests for quotations, coordinating with customers, sales teams, and internal departments;
- Assess the technical and manufacturing feasibility of new projects, from tooling concepts to final part submission;
- Contribute to process flow planning and decision-making;
- Lead new customer projects in collaboration with manufacturing teams, ensuring a smooth transition into production;
- Develop a strong understanding of end-user applications and market trends to support business insight;
- Enhance the technical knowledge of the sales team, including supporting international collaboration where required;
- Manage project timelines and ensure effective coordination between all stakeholders;
- Communicate tooling and manufacturing concepts clearly to customers, both remotely and in person;
- Ensure compliance with environmental and occupational health & safety standards (ISO14001 and ISO45001);
- Report any hazards, near misses, or incidents promptly to management;
- Support additional projects and tasks as required.
Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (a Master’s in Engineering or Management is an asset);
- 1–3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment;
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work across cultures;
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
- Experience with engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Siemens NX, or similar;
- Knowledge of project management principles and practices;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Maltese and English;
- Ability to work independently with a proactive, continuous improvement mindset.
