Our well esteemed client is looking to recruit a Plant Technical Manager.

The ideal candidate will be required to serve as the technical/functional area lead, possessing a strong understanding of internal customers, business (production) processes, asset system relationships, and the dependencies that impact the Company’s operational flow. This role is responsible for ensuring business continuity and the availability of facilities and various operational systems within designated buildings of the Group by overseeing effective and efficient maintenance operations.

As the expert liaison, the Plant Technical Manager will facilitate and support external suppliers on various projects and compliance visits while actively pursuing continuous improvement to enhance the reliability of operational assets. The essence of this role involves evaluating and coordinating solutions, ensuring effective communication and alignment, and making sound decisions on necessary actions.

The Plant Technical Manager shall report directly to the Board of Directors.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the effective execution of preventive, predictive, corrective, and compliance maintenance activities within the Company;
  • Supervise the installation and commissioning of plant machinery;
  • Ensure that ad-hoc malfunctions are systematically troubleshooted and resolved promptly;
  • Manage risk and root cause assessments following incidents, inspections, or other observations;
  • Lead and manage the Maintenance Team, coordinating and delegating tasks, primarily focusing on first-level support and preventive maintenance;
  • Develop and implement a Maintenance Reporting System to log all internal customer requests;
  • Ensure the timely delivery and suitability of parts and spares for maintenance activities, coordinating with local and foreign suppliers for urgent needs;
  • Fully monitor and manage the Building Management System;
  • Create and enforce an annual preventive maintenance plan to ensure its successful execution;
  • Develop Maintenance SOPs and Work Instructions, ensuring strict adherence by the Maintenance Team;
  • Take full responsibility for Health & Safety, addressing safety issues, and promoting a positive safety culture throughout the Company;
  • Facilitate and support effective operational communication to ensure efficient operations and provide relevant feedback to stakeholders;
  • Manage technical escalations and deviations in agreement with relevant HODs and the established recovery processes;
  • Optimize the utilisation of available resources in various maintenance tasks;
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely execution of maintenance work according to SOPs and work instructions;
  • Assist in managing technical projects and provide technical support when needed;
  • Explore and recommend innovative, cost-effective methods based on best practices;
  • Oversee the training, coaching, mentoring, and development of the Maintenance Team;
  • Strictly maintain company confidentiality and professionalism;
  • Attend company-mandated training programs, whether during or outside of office hours;
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Board of Directors that align with the role

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Holding a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a professional warrant;
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant leadership experience in a similar environment, particularly within the FMCG sector and Industrial Refrigeration;
  • Excellent decision-making abilities in rapidly changing and complex situations, with the capability to handle uncertainties;
  • Proactive in identifying potential issues and adept at implementing effective contingency plans to address them;
  • Strongly results-oriented with a keen sense of responsibility; effectively directs work and ensures accountability;
  • Self-motivated, highly organised, with strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Capable of working independently and meeting deadlines;
  • Embraces a positive attitude characterised by a "can do," "right the first time," "speed," and "passion" approach.
