On behalf of our client we are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Officer to join our Human Resources team. The successful candidate will take ownership of the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring payroll is processed accurately, on time, and in full compliance with Maltese legislation while delivering an excellent employee experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end monthly payroll process, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
- Reconcile payroll data and maintain accurate payroll records.
- Ensure compliance with Maltese payroll legislation, taxation, social security, and statutory requirements.
- Prepare and submit statutory reports, including FS3, FS5, and FS7 returns.
- Produce payroll, labour cost, and workforce reports using payroll and reporting systems.
- Support department managers by providing payroll insights, labour cost analysis, and workforce reporting.
- Identify opportunities to streamline, improve, and automate payroll processes and workflows.
- Maintain the confidentiality of employee information while ensuring GDPR compliance.
- Support HR projects, process improvements, and broader people initiatives, working collaboratively with the HR team to enhance operational efficiency and employee experience.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in payroll administration, HR administration, or accounting.
- Experience using Indigo Payroll, Shireburn Software, and Indigo Insights is considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of Maltese payroll legislation and statutory reporting requirements.
- Experience processing payroll within a hospitality or other high-volume workforce environment is preferred.
- Excellent analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
