Our very well-known growing company is looking to recruit an HR Manager to join their growing team.
The HR Manager will be responsible for leading and managing all Human Resources functions within Oxford House, ensuring the alignment of HR practices with organisational objectives and legal compliance. The role demands a strong understanding of Maltese employment law and the dynamics of an import and retail business, ensuring that HR practices support both people development and business growth. The role reports directly to the Managing Director and/or Senior Management Team and encompasses the following key areas of responsibility:
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the company’s overall business objectives;
- Prepare and monitor annual HR budgets and resource plans, reporting regularly to senior management;
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the organisational structure and workforce planning requirements;
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process — including job design, advertising, screening, interviewing, and contract preparation;
- Design and deliver induction and onboarding programs to ensure new employees integrate effectively into the company;
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant handling of conflicts, disciplinary actions, and grievances;
- Interpret and apply Maltese employment legislation, internal policies, and best practices to minimise legal risk;
- Manage disciplinary and termination procedures in accordance with legal and company standards;
- Maintain and regularly update the Employee Handbook and all HR policies;
- Oversee the performance appraisal process, ensuring timely evaluations, goal-setting, and follow-up;
- Identify and address training and development needs across the organisation, with an emphasis on upskilling and continuous improvement;
- Coordinate internal and external training programs, including mandatory health and safety training;
- Administer the payroll process in collaboration with the Finance Department to ensure accuracy and timeliness of salaries, bonuses, and statutory contributions;
- Manage employee benefits administration including leave, health insurance, and company discounts;
- Ensure all employee records are accurate, confidential, and compliant with GDPR requirements;
- Oversee employee attendance and leave management systems;
- Promote and lead employee engagement initiatives, fostering a positive, motivating, and values-driven workplace culture;
- Advise management on retention strategies and initiatives to strengthen motivation and morale
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field;
(A recognised HR certification or postgraduate qualification will be considered an asset.)
- Minimum 3–5 years of progressive HR management experience, preferably within retail, import, or manufacturing sectors in Malta;
- In-depth knowledge of Maltese employment legislation, particularly the Employment and Industrial Relations Act;
- Proficiency in HR Information Systems and payroll management software;
- Excellent command of both Maltese and English, written and spoken;
- Advanced computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite
