Our client in the retail industry is looking to recruit a Head of HR to manage the HR team.

The Head of HR will lead the human resources strategy across the entire Group. This role is central to ensuring the company attracts, develops, engages, and retains the talent needed to support business growth, operational excellence, and a strong workplace culture. It requires a balance of strategic leadership and hands-on HR delivery within a dynamic, fast-moving environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement a comprehensive HR strategy aligned with the organisation’s goals, growth plans, and core values;
- Lead the HR team—covering talent acquisition, learning and development, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, and HR business partnering—to deliver high-impact, people-focused services;
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define organisational structures, workforce plans, and staffing needs across manufacturing, retail, distribution, and support functions;

- Support and lead change management initiatives, including facility upgrades, retail expansion, and operational improvements;
- Oversee talent acquisition for key roles in factory operations, retail outlets, logistics, and administrative teams, ensuring a strong pipeline of internal and external talent;
- Drive employee engagement, culture-building, and internal communication initiatives to ensure a motivated workforce that reflects the organisation’s values of quality, service, and continuous improvement;
- Manage performance management systems, succession planning, and leadership development programmes to foster capability and long-term career pathways;
- Oversee compensation, benefits, and reward strategies, ensuring competitiveness within the Maltese market and alignment with organisational needs;

- Ensure full compliance with Maltese employment legislation and HR best practices, while maintaining updated HR policies and procedures;
- Use HR analytics and workforce metrics to guide data-driven decision-making and monitor trends such as turnover, retention, engagement, and productivity;
- Promote diversity, inclusion, continuous learning, and a positive workplace environment;
- Strengthen the employer brand and support recruitment marketing efforts to position the organisation as an employer of choice.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree or HR professional qualification (e.g., CIPD) is an asset;
- Minimum of five years’ progressive HR experience, including senior leadership roles—ideally within manufacturing, retail, or the FMCG sector;
- Demonstrated experience in developing HR strategy and leading HR transformation or operational excellence initiatives;
- Strong knowledge of Maltese employment law and current HR best practices;
- Experience in multi-site operations and in managing a diverse workforce across manufacturing and retail environments;
- Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and business partnering skills;
- Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to translate HR data into meaningful actions and business outcomes.
