A unique opportunity to join a newly established organisation responsible for an interesting project in Malta in the capacity of Financial Controller. This role is ideal for a driven individual, who enjoys being hands-on as well as strategic due to the role involving as well the setting up of the entire 360-degree function.  

Reporting to the CEO, as the Financial Controller you will be providing leadership and coordination of the company’s financial planning, debt management, and budget management in order to contribute to the successful outcome of the company’s business. Apart from managing these areas, other key responsibilities will include the following: 

  • Ensure the timely production of all budgets, forecasts, management, and statutory reports to meet company requirements
  • Ensure that rigorous financial and other operating controls are implemented and enforced throughout the organisation
  • Prepare financial models, including tax planning, funding models, restructuring plans, and other major investments
  • Prepare/ review management accounts and supporting documentation ensuring that standard management accounts meet the needs of the business, managing changes to format and content
  • Manage the statutory annual audit process and the company’s strategic risk and internal control reviews
  • Coordination of operational banking relationships
  • Manage cash flow/ credit control, preparing forecasts as necessary
  • Manage payroll, PAYE/S.S., VAT, and other corporate tax issues
  • Monitor and adapt internal financial control procedures as business processes evolve
  • Provide regular and reliable management information to Senior Management or board of directors along with ad hoc analysis of data, as and when required
  • Assist the CEO on financial and legal matters, providing financial input to help execute the organisation’s strategy.

Candidates for this role must be qualified accountants with a minimum of 3 years of experience within a similar role. Knowledge of IT/Audit functions, legislation, and/ or business management will be considered an asset.
