Our client is looking to recruit a Finance Officer. The candidate will be reporting directly to the Accountant.

Main responsibilities:

  • Maintain and manage debtors and creditors in line with established procedures, including reconciling statements, issuing monthly invoices, processing payments, addressing any issues or queries through email/phone, and ensuring timely posting of transactions in accounting software;
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements, regularly monitor balances, and track unpresented cheques;
  • Record all transactions from overseas operations, including bank and cash receipts/payments;
  • Post all general ledger transactions up to the trial balance stage, including journal entries, periodic reconciliation of control and disbursement accounts, and resolving discrepancies or accounting issues;
  • Maintain accurate digital records for debtors/creditors, including invoices, statements, payments, and bank statements;
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly management accounts, as well as the annual audit file and response to audit queries;
  • Assist in the preparation of annual accounts for overseas operations;
  • Reconcile group intercompany balances as required;
  • Support the credit control function;
  • Perform other related duties as required;
  • Comply with all company HSSE policies and initiatives, while actively promoting a safe and healthy working environment;
  • Undertake any additional responsibilities assigned by the company, in line with the employee’s skills, competencies, and experience

Requirements:

  • Have an affinity for numbers and calculations;
  • Smart appearance and a flair for working with people and communicating with others;
  • Be able to set priorities and meet deadlines;
  • Must be a team player, have a pleasant personality and can demonstrate a 'can-do' attitude when faced with deadlines and other challenging situations;
  • Be able to work on own initiative, be flexible and multitask;
  • Must be organised accurate and methodical.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a similar position

Qualifications:

  • Possess an Advanced level standard in accounts or higher;
  • A good knowledge of excel, accounting packages, preferably SFM;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
