Our growing client is looking to recruit an Engineering & Maintenance Manager to join their Maintenance team.

Job Outline:

The Engineering & Maintenance Manager will oversee the Engineering and Maintenance (E&M) department, ensuring that all operations align with organisational objectives. The primary responsibility of the role is to effectively manage available resources to ensure that all machinery, equipment, and plant utilities are maintained and operated efficiently, in compliance with GMP standards, legal requirements, and quality and productivity benchmarks.

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Lead, manage, and develop the Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) department in line with business objectives;

- Oversee recruitment, coaching, training, and ongoing development of team members;

- Monitor staff performance through regular evaluations and reviews;

- Establish and implement preventive maintenance procedures and schedules;

- Provide prompt guidance and support on maintenance issues to reduce downtime;

- Ensure that all machinery and equipment are maintained in compliance with GMP standards and regulatory requirements;

- Collaborate with other department managers to align efforts and achieve company goals;

- Drive and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the department;

- Ensure all team members receive appropriate training and development;

- Address and resolve issues involving both internal teams and external stakeholders;

- Be actively involved in maintenance and engineering activities when necessary to meet operational needs;

- Oversee the collection, management, and analysis of M&E data (e.g., intervention logs, maintenance activity);

- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations;

- Liaise with and manage external parties such as suppliers, contractors, and insurers on maintenance and engineering matters;

- Lead the planning, specification, procurement, and commissioning of new machinery and equipment projects;

- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for areas of responsibility, aligned with overall company objectives;

- Develop annual maintenance budget proposals and oversee their execution following approval;

- Identify, research, and recommend opportunities for operational and process improvements;

- Prepare and deliver reports and presentations related to departmental functions and performance;

- Support and implement additional projects as assigned by senior management.

Experience & Qualifications:

- A minimum qualification equivalent to MQF Level 6;

- Proven experience in managing teams and overseeing operations;

- Hands-on knowledge of plant machinery, equipment, and facility systems;

- Strong skills in budgeting, strategic planning, and operational execution;

- Demonstrated ability to solve technical issues effectively;

- Confident decision-making capabilities;

- Ability to lead, motivate, and hold team members accountable;

- Excellent communication, teamwork, and delegation skills;

- Proficient in the use of computer systems and software tools;

- A proactive and solution-oriented approach.
