Our client is looking to recruit a Credit Risk Manager to join their Commercial team.
Job Purpose:
Responsible for assessing credit applications from a risk management perspective as part of the second line of defence. Ensures alignment with the organisation’s Risk Appetite Statement and sectoral limits as approved by the Board of Directors.
Key Duties:
- Ensure all credit transactions are aligned with the organisation’s Credit Risk Policies, guidelines, and procedures, while mentoring team members on these standards;
- Monitor the credit risk profile of the lending portfolio to ensure consistency with approved Key Credit Risk Indicators (KCRI);
- Evaluate and provide recommendations on: lending proposals exceeding a defined threshold submitted by the retail and commercial teams or corporate finance departments;
- Credit facilities falling outside established parameters or presenting exceptions; All non-performing exposures;
- Conduct periodic risk-based checks to ensure policy adherence and coordinate follow-ups with relevant departments, contributing to biannual risk reporting;
- Stay informed about economic, political, regulatory, and social developments and suggest updates to credit risk policies and KCRIs accordingly;
- Supervise team activities to maintain quality standards and ensure timely task completion;
- Collaborate with IT and relevant departments to enhance or develop internal systems, interfaces, and reporting tools aimed at improving monitoring, control, and efficiency;
- Participate in internal committees and meetings, taking minutes when required;
- Contribute to reporting, projects, or initiatives as assigned;
- Ensure adherence to internal policies, guidelines, and procedures at all times;
- Perform general administrative tasks, including handling correspondence, managing calls, ordering supplies, and filing;
- Undertake other duties as may reasonably be assigned from time to time

- Highly organised with excellent time management capabilities;
- Committed to delivering high-quality service;
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills, with persistence and reliability;
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills;
- Able to prioritise effectively and work under pressure;
- Self-motivated and collaborative team player;
- Solid understanding of credit analysis, financial statement interpretation, and familiarity with core financial products.
Experience & Qualifications:
Minimum of 6 years’ experience in a credit-related role, particularly in retail, commercial, or corporate finance. Candidates with relevant hands-on experience in lieu of academic qualifications will be considered.
