Our client in the law industry is looking to recruit a Compliance Executive to join their team.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic team responsible for servicing a predominantly international client base across a wide range of industries, as well as private clients. This role is well suited to an individual seeking to broaden their professional experience and take on a challenging and varied position.
Key Responsibilities:
The role will include, but will not be limited to, the following:
- Assisting with the ongoing monitoring and review of communications and notifications submitted to regulatory authorities;
- Collecting, maintaining, and reviewing client due diligence documentation in line with established client onboarding procedures;
- Conducting client risk assessments at onboarding stage and on an ongoing basis;
- Performing and analysing client screening and background investigations;
- Implementing internal client acceptance and onboarding requirements;
- Carrying out periodic client reviews in accordance with quality assurance and risk management policies;
- Liaising with internal departments to obtain, review, and verify information required to comply with AML/CFT obligations, including compliance checks;
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records, including both physical files and electronic systems;
- Preparing and submitting statutory filings and fulfilling other regulatory obligations;
- Assisting in the management of internal audit processes, documentation, and procedures;
- Supporting the implementation and ongoing management of company-wide policies, including risk management and compliance policies;
- Assisting with the delivery of AML and CFT training initiatives;
- Ensuring compliance with applicable anti-money laundering, counter-terrorism financing, and sanctions regulations, and supporting the reporting of suspicious activities where required.
Experience & Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a minimum of two (2) to three (3) years’ experience working within an AML/CFT compliance role;
- Hold entry-level AML qualifications or evidence of relevant training, which will be considered an asset;
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of financial services regulations and standards, with particular knowledge of the Maltese regulatory framework applicable to corporate service providers, company and trust law, and AML/CFT legislation;
- Possess sound knowledge of due diligence processes and AML compliance practices;
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook;
- Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines;
- Be capable of working independently with minimal supervision, while also collaborating effectively within a team-oriented environment.
