Our well esteemed client is looking to recruit a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to join the C-Suite tier.

The company is a multifaceted group of companies whose primary aim is to achieve business growth through innovation.

Over the years the company ventured into various areas including the selling and servicing of commercial vehicles and motorcycles. It also invested in an engineering company that is focused on delivering Storage & Racking Solutions and in a technology company that delivers Customer Experience Solutions. Adding to this, the company built up a strong and diverse property portfolio.

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for the management and strategic use of information technology (IT) within our organization. The role involves overseeing the development and implementation of IT strategies, policies, and systems to support the overall business objectives. The Chief Information Officer (CIO) will be reporting directly to the CEO.

Key roles and Responsibilities:

  • Technology Strategy: Develop and execute the organization's technology strategy, aligning it with the company's overall business goals. This involves identifying opportunities for technology to drive innovation and growth.
  • Technology Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to the technology department, including IT teams. Ensure that technology teams are well-organized, motivated, and capable of delivering on strategic objectives. Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
  • IT Governance: Establish and enforce IT policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance and security. Evaluate and manage IT risks, ensuring effective risk management practices are in place.
  • Technology Infrastructure: Oversee the development and maintenance of our company’s technology infrastructure. Ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of IT systems and networks.
  • Digital Transformation: Drive digital transformation initiatives to enhance business processes, customer experiences, and overall efficiency. Identify and leverage emerging technologies to gain a competitive advantage.
  • Data Management: Develop and implement data management strategies to ensure the security, integrity, and availability of organizational data. Ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate IT strategies, initiatives, and performance to key stakeholders, including executives and board members. Collaborate with other departments to understand and address their technology needs.
  • Research and Development: Lead research and development efforts to innovate and create new technologies or solutions that can give the company a competitive edge.
  • Information Security: Ensure the security of the organization's data and technology infrastructure. Implement cybersecurity measures to protect against threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the technology budget, making strategic decisions about investments in technology resources and projects.
  • Vendor Relationships: Manage relationships with technology vendors, negotiate contracts, and evaluate third-party solutions and services.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • A tertiary-level qualification in information technology or a related subject. Post-graduate qualifications in management will be considered an asset.
  • A minimum of 6 years prior experience in managing technical teams and projects;
  • Broad knowledge of modern software technologies and techniques and able to understand issues and challenge staff where required;
  • Have excellent leadership, strategic, analytical and project management skills;
  • Good verbal, presentation, written and listening skills;
  • The person must be able to work with integrity and produce high data quality;
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements;
  • A proven track record of leading change and delivering results through IT in a business environment;
