This position plays a key role in coordinating and implementing strategic AML/CFT initiatives. It involves cross-functional collaboration and engagement with local and international stakeholders.

Job Description

  • Collaborate with all internal sections to monitor the effective implementation of the National AML/CFT Strategy, as well as the organisation’s strategic objectives.
  • Participate in the formulation of national and organisational AML/CFT strategies, ensuring alignment with evolving money laundering and terrorist financing risks, as well as legislative and institutional developments.
  • Manage and coordinate the execution of strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects, ensuring the timely implementation of agreed actions and recommendations in line with established expectations.
  • Participate in conferences, seminars, workshops, and internal committees to remain up to date with revisions and updates to the AML/CFT legislative and institutional framework at both local and international levels.
  • Provide ad-hoc assistance in connection with evaluations, assessments, or studies undertaken by the EU, Egmont Group, MONEYVAL, FATF, and other relevant organisations concerning or impacting Malta.
  • Carry out any other duties as delegated by the Head of Section, Senior Manager, or Manager.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • An MQF Level 6 qualification with a minimum of 5 years’ experience (preferably in AML/CFT), including at least 1 year in a senior-level role; or an MQF Level 5 qualification with a minimum of 7 years’ experience, preferably in AML/CFT.
  • Experience in programme or project management roles is considered an asset but is not essential, as on-the-job support will be provided to develop these skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of efficiency, diligence, creativity, and a solution-oriented mindset in a relevant role.
  • Highly organised with strong reasoning and analytical skills, including the ability to read, understand, and critically analyse complex information.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and lead tasks or projects with minimal supervision.
